There really is not much of a difference between the Puritans and the Pilgrims. The Pilgrims left England for their religious believes like the Puritans. The Pilgrims were persecuted for their religious beliefes. The Puritans left to purify the land from King Henry the 8TH was going to kill the Puritans.
A puritan is someone who believes that they are godly and a pilgrim is someone who moves. Puritans were Pilgrims sometimes though.
A pilgrim is any Christian who is going on a journey to some specific Christian place of worship (or biblical site) as an act of devotion.

A puritan is a Christian who is affiliated to a specific protestant religious group which advocates "purity" of worship and doctrine, as well as personal and group piety.

Answer

Puritan, in the religious sense, refers to a member of a group of English Protestants who endeavoured to simplify their form of religion after the Reformation.

A pilgrim is one who travels to another place for religious reasons.

Additional Information:

The Pilgrim Fathers were English Puritans who traveled from Britain to North America in the 1600s. They founded a colony there, in Plymouth, Massachusetts, in 1620.

The pilgrims that came to the Americas were also separatists and did not want to follow the Anglican Church. So, religiously, the pilgrims were different from the Puritans. The Puritans wanted to reform the Anglican Church but the pilgrims wanted break off from them completely. So when the Pilgrims had invited some Puritans on board the ship to the Americas, the Mayflower Compact had been signed.

Puritans were upper class and were of some what royalty due to the fact that they were related to dukes and duchesses.

Pilgrims were of the middle class and were jewelers, bankers, and house keepers

Though closely related the Pilgrims came because the wanted to practice their religion freely. they were put to death if they didn't follow the kings rules or religion. The puritans just wanted the church of England to have more of a local control.

But others English came for REAL reasons

Religious freedom

Economic opportunities

Adventure

Land

How would you compare and contrast the pilgrims and Puritans?

I would draw a Venn diagram and list the differences between them and what is the same. Then, I would put that in 3 paragraphs showing the difference between them.
