FDR's New Deal was bad because many people seem to believe that he restored work when it was really 18% below the 1929 level. After two years millions were still jobless and the economy still remained in trouble. The New Deal even help it hurt them because taxes were added and no one had the money to pay for them.

The New Deal did not completely end the Great Depression. Many businessmen and financiers did not support the economic measures of the New Deal. With the recession of 1937, many business leaders and politicians claimed that FDR's policies were a failure and the attempt to maintain prosperity during peacetime was not successful at all. Many were opposed to the growth of the federal government and the corresponding cost to maintain those new governmental agencies. From FDR's New Deal to the present, the federal government has continued to grow, assume an active role in the daily lives of citizens, and to cost more in the form of taxes, and to spend more on domestic and foreign affairs. Many politicians, economists, and students of government did not favor such increases.

Opinions vary on the disadvantages concerning the New Deal laws that were put forth by US President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The plan was to relieve the pressures of the 1930's Great Depression. Many people believe it was a perfect plan. Others do not. One disadvantage often cited was the precedent of having the Federal government take on a huge never before role in the US economy.
