The Silurian was from 443 to 419 million years ago. On land, moss forests spread along rivers. The first vascular plants evolved, represented by Cooksonia in the northern hemisphere and Baragwanathia in Australia. Land animals included arachnoid and millipedes.
In the ocean, the first bony fish, including Acanthodians, and the first jawed fish appeared. There were also many sea scorpions, some up to several meters long. Theree were also leeches, Brachiopods, mollusks, trilobite, and many other invertebrates.
