Well the Medieval Japan Peasants are divided into three sub-classes. The highest one would be the farmer, the farmers grow crops ect. But the farmers who owns their own farm are higher ranking than farmers who don't have their own farm. The second would be Craftsmen, or Artisans. They works with wood and metal, some are well known as Samurai sword makers. Lastly would be the Merchants, they are the lowest sub-class because it was felt they made living of other people's work.
