Breyer was founded in 1950, and was orignally Breyer Molding Company, a molding company based in Chicago. The first model horse was known as #57 Western Horse (you can see a picture on the link below). #57 was originally a special order for a mantelpiece clock for the F.W Woolworth Company. But Breyer Molding Co. was absolutely flooded with requests for the horse. And that changed Breyer's path completely to what we see it as today!
