The goals of the September 11 attacks from Al Qaeda's perspective were to:
- Humiliate the U.S. government
- Psychologically arouse its population
- Instill terror in all to bring about ideological change (terrorism)
- Give a slap in the face to capitalism by taking down a major symbol of it (world trade centers)
- Economically denting the U.S.
In that respect Americans have been absorbed in fear and bigotry/hate towards the "others" (Muslims) rise of security, loss of freedom (try traveling the skies!)
Last but certainly not least: Provocation of an enduring war that will lead to the United States' financial deterioration and military spending over its own homeless, bankrupt citizens who need tax dollars.
