The 1940s seems a long time ago while that is not wholly the case. But if you compare the fashion trends of the time back then to the contemporary world, you will realize that it was actually really long ago because there has been such a major trend shift in the past few years.Fashion does not limit itself to clothing alone. Rather it extends wide to include footwear, jewelry, hair styling, etc. The clothing fashion of 1940s is said to be inspired from military outfits. The 1940s fashion began in a world of crisis and ended with the new bloom of fashion. The start of the fashion etiquette this year comprises dresses and skirts that were stitched being inspired from menswear. Puffed sleeves were a major and widely loved fashion trend at that time. The dresses were usually short frocks that reached down to the knees. Long gowns and maxis became a part of our fashion industry really later. Dresses, skirts and blouses were a major part of the fashion trends of 1940. All the dresses were stitched in slim-fitting. Since the clothing was inspired by the military so most of the outfits were adorned with buttons and pockets all over. There were knee-length A-line skirts with high waisted tops. There was no fashion of skin-tight jeans by then. The fashion of jeans was inspired by a high waist and wide-legged trouser style. The footwear included1944 Embellished Toe Heels.1944 Reptile Skin Pumps.1940s Black Oxford Shoes.1940s reproduction Oxford shoes by Royal Vintage1944 Walking Oxford Shoes.1940s Slingback Shoes.1948 Sling-back Wedge Shoes. The 1940s Two Tone Pumps. The fashion of hairstyling included making a high puff at the front of your hair and leaving the rest loose. There were bows and flowers used excessively while styling one's hair.We will see that many of these fashion trends are not a part of the present fashion society anymore but that is the thing about fashion. It never really goes away. It keeps coming back in one way or another.

The fashion trends in the 1940s were inspired by the masculine touch. There were padded shoulders in the dresses of the ladies with A-line skirts going down to the knees. The shoes were mostly flat pumps with little or no heel. These trends are not found today in present fashion stores. Now, the trends have drastically changed over the past few years and have become more casual and trendy. Now women prefer to wear sleeveless and off the shoulder dresses. So the trend of padded sleeves is no more. Also, that trend was inspired by menswear so women wanted to ignore it. Back in the 1940s, short knee-length skirts and A-line dresses were the most important fashion trend. Most of the women celebrities wore them. A line-dresses are still in fashion today but not so much. Now, women prefer to wear maxis and tops. The fashion trends have become more modern and also more revealing. This is also because women want to look trendy and revealing now. They are broad-minded and want to be independent choosing to wear whatever they want. This is why and how fashion trends have changed from the 1940s.

The style in the 1940's was very disco orientated, with tight trousers for men and sassy dresses for women. EL

fashion has changed since the 1940s because ideas and inspirations has changed. What was "in" in the 1940's is not what the 2008 fashion generation has to offer
