Pros:Japan developed thriving cities, agriculture, and increased internal trade. The Japanese were also able to hyper focus on themselves, and continue to further their culture. They also experienced a period of peace because there were no ideas (e.g. Christianity in Rome) to fight about.
Cons: They had to catch up with the rest of the world. They were not able to advance outside ideas, and had less trade. Less trade led to a less stable economy. They also had no allies for wars.
