The main reasons were:
- high taxation of the peasant class
- forced and unpaid labour on the noblemen's estates
- famine of 1315
- bad handling of French king and nobles of the war against the English and banditry by uncontrolled bands of soldiers

The blue and red of the flag have been the colours of Paris since 1358 when they were used by the followers of Etienne Marcel, then leader of a Parisian revolt against the King of France and the Dauphin. In 1794, the Convention officially adopted the tricolour, the Commander of the Guard, Lafayette, having reputedly added the royal white between the blue and the red.[1]

Isabella of France is the name of the French queen in the movie Braveheart. The queen consort and regent in question (1295 to August 22, 1358) receives that name because the English of the time did not like the sound of the French form of the name and favored reminding everyone that Isabelle was an outsider, as the only surviving daughter of France's King Philip IV (1268 to November 29, 1314) and Queen Joan I of Navarre (January 14, 1273 to April 2, 1305).Critics tend to question the historical accuracy of the film in the above-mentioned regard since Isabella may have been a nine-year-old monarch in waiting as princess and wife of Edward II (April 25, 1284 to September 21, 1327) at the time of Sir William Wallace's (1270? - August 23, 1305) struggle for the Scots and Margaret of France (1279? to February 14, 1318), as consort, was the queen who accompanied her husband, Edward I (June 17, 1239 to July 7, 1307), to Scotland.

The French peasantry were most obviously angered wit Louis XVI's expensive wars and the severe food shortages. However, the French Revolution was not led by the peasantry, but instead by the rising bourgeoisie. The bourgeoisie were upper-middle class gentry who were often more wealthy than their aristocratic counterparts. These were the men who led the revolution due to their lack of voice in the government. Mass involvement came later through general dissatisfaction.
