First, one correction: Hebrew is a language; the people are Jewish.

Even before the first exile in 605 BCE, the Jews established trading outposts outside of the Kingdoms of Judah and Israel. However, in the year 587 BCE, the vast majority of Jews were forcibly removed from the Kingdom of Judah and sent to Babylon, now in modern Iraq; a large number removed to Persia when Cyrus conquered Babylon. In addition, a small number of Jews removed themselves to Egypt immediately after the Babylonian exile. Large and prosperous Jewish communities were thus established in Babylon and Persia.

As a result of the second exile in 70 CE, upwards of 97,000 Jews were enslaved by the Romans and were removed to the main part of the Roman Empire. However, a significant Jewish presence remained in the Roman province, which was renamed from Judea to Philistia. By the end of the Byzantine Empire and the Roman Empire, Jewish communities were established in Spain, Italy, North Africa and throughout the Muslim world.

The results of the migrations are too many to answer; one result was the establishment of distinctive customs among the various populations, all of which were in accordance with Jewish law. One further result was a slight divergence between various populations in specific applications of Jewish law. Another was the written compilation of the oral tradition into the Mishnah, Beraita, Talmud and various commentaries. Another was differences in the order and text of daily prayers.
