Life on Christopher Columbus's ships would have been very difficult. The voyage across the Atlantic would have taken weeks, and would have been extremely arduous. The close quarters, rats, and sea sickness would have been enough to make the crew consider mutiny, and many of them almost did.
The very first one not to pretty after the sailers comfronted Columbus to turn around and go back to Spain because there was no sign of India and there was no more food or water. The next couple of days they found land, an island in the Bahamas wich was named San Salvador wich means " we are safe" ( In Spanish Salvador is a man's name, the word comes from to save, salvage for a ship) they gave that name to the island because it saved them. On the same island the biggest ship, La Santa Maria, run aground because of the shallow waters. They had to come back to Spain with only La Pinta and La Niña ships. The tribes of the Americas received the name "Indians" because the Spanish thought they had reached India, that's where they were going. Columbus wanted to find a new rout to India because the Mediterranean Sea in Europe was in the hands of Turks, Arabs and other pirates who attacked all the caravans who tradded with India and all those lands.
Hope it is enough
