2,403 deaths Navy 2,008 deaths, 710 wounded Marines 109 dead, 69 wounded Army 218 dead, 364 wounded Civilians 68 dead, 35 wounded. Nearly half died in the explosion of the Arizona. That occurred approx. 15 minutes into the 110 minute battle. There were 165 ships at pearl Harbor. 20 were damaged. 12 of those were back in service in less than 1 year. No Aircraft Carriers were damaged (none in port). Of the 8 battleships in the Harbor, 4 were sunk (2 forever), 3 were lightly damaged, a 1 heavily damaged. All but 2 were eventually returned to service. Our "crippled" fleet defeated the Japanese Navy at Midway 6 months later.
