Since water was scarce and often contaminated as they crossed the plains, Mormon pioneers often drank coffee and "Mormon tea" (made by boiling leaves of an Ephedra shrub in water). These drinks were sometimes allowed to cool before drinking as Joseph Smith had warned against the drinking of "hot drinks". Later Church leaders specifically said coffee and most teas were what was meant by "hot drinks", and most Mormons no longer drink either.

When locusts swarmed in to eat Mormon crops what followed and ate them?

It was the Mormon Cricket, not locusts, that swarmed and began to destroy the Mormon's crops. The "Mormon Cricket" is actually not a cricket at all, it is a migratory shieldbacked katydid common in many western states. Mormon Crickets are known to periodically form large swarms, which is exactly what happened to the Mormons. The Mormon's crops were saved by California Gulls, which came in and ate the crickets. Today, Utah's state bird is the California Gull, in honor of their saving the Mormon pioneers in this "Miracle of the Gulls".

Are all people in Utah Mormons?

No. There is a good representation of all faiths in Utah. It was the Mormon pioneers who first settled there, but things have changed since 1847. Obviously, no. The number one rule of the universe is "every rule has an exception." Not all smart people wear glasses. Not all people who wear lots of dark clothing are goths. Not everyone who lives in Utah is a Mormon.
