Mainly bolt-actions guns. Machine guns were beginning to be seen with some regularity, but their usefulness was still unknown, so they were not yet produced in any great amount. Tanks were not yet in use. Some poisonous could be found, but artillery and mortars were much more popular. Soon after the beginning of the war, tanks and other odd inventions will be seen.

For the US (America during the Revolutionary War):

1. Revolutionary War-Flintlocks

2. War of 1812-Flintlocks

3. Mexican War (1846-1848)-Flinklocks with some percussion cap long guns coming on line.

4. US Civil War (1861-1865)-Percussion cap muskets/rifles; with some metallic cartridges coming on line from Spencer/Henry repeating rifles. NOT the Henry Rifle Company of today...that company was created in 1992 and legally uses the HENRY name as a MARKETING PLOY, because the Patent/Copyright expired on the real Henry company.

5. US Indian Wars (Frontier Wars-1866-1890)-1873 Springfield single shot rifles using 45-70 metallic cartridges.

Then WWI.

6. Spanish-American War of 1898 (war only lasted 6 months/nick-named the "Splendid Little War" by the press/equated to our 1991 Operation Desert Storm: nicknamed the "100 Hour War" by the press)-30-40 caliber Krag bolt action rifles. The US's first war using bolt action rifles.
