the wheel bearing will wear out. worst scenario, is the whell will fall off causing considerable damage ,maybe even a wreck. can also cause bearing to get hot , and weld bearing race to axle stub, requiring replacement of this hub it is not a big or expensive job to have a wheel bearing replaced. the ABS sensor is not on the bearing and will not need replacing if you replace the bearings
No. The loud humming noise could be a wheel bearing going bad and it could damage the ABS sensor if allowed to continue.
The new wheel bearing includes the ABS sensor. They are not available separately.
If it is 4x4 remove axle from wheel bearing assembly and then remove the wheel bearing assembly. Make sure the tone ring (looks like a ring with teeth) is still attached to the spped sensor side of the bearing, if not, replace wheel bearing assembly with an assembly that comes with the speed sensor. Replacing a speed sensor without a tone ring is pointless because it won't work.
The ABS sensor is located in the front wheel bearing. The is one on either side, so you will need a mechanic to pull the error code out of the car's computer to determine which side it is. You must replace the entire wheel bearing to fix the sensor, but chances are that if the sensor goes the wheel bearing is leaking. The wheel bearing is a sealed unit and should not leak, but over time, water, grime, and wear, it may begin to no longer be sealed. Buy a new wheel bearing and install it your self if you want. All you have to do is take off the wheel, the brake caliper, the rotor, and finally the bearing itself.
Might be part of the wheel bearing.
it is built in to the wheel hub and bearing
You need to replace the rear wheel hub - bearing and speed sensor inclusive
The speed sensor may be built into the hub bearing. In that case the whole hub bearing needs to be replaced.
what is a gas sensor never heard of one is it like a muffler bearing?
Nearside front wheel bearing
There could be on at each wheel bearing.
In the wheel hub along with the wheel bearing.
