It's sad but it's Gods name that is being removed. It's suppose to be in The Bible over 7,000 times but, many religions are told not to use it. How can you get to know someone and not first know their name and show respect by using it?
AnswerActually, the 'removal' of Good's name isn't actually a removal at all. In the Hebrew Biblle the name of God 'YahWeh' ("I am who I am") is still very much present in the written scrolls. However, when the Bible is read, the name of God is deemed by the Jew SO holy that it is never uttered by human lips (only at one Jewish feast, and then by the priest or rabbi). Instead, when reading scriptures in the synagogue, the rabbis use another word, usually 'Adonai' meaning 'Lord' in its place. The name of God isn't shamefully 'removed' but it is a mark of the greatest respect to God that his name isn't uttered. I once met Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and of course, out of respect, I called her 'Your Majesty'. I wouldn't dream of calling her 'Elizabeth' or 'Liz' to her face, or even 'Lillibet' - the name by which she is known by her husband HRH Prince Philip. How much more respect should we have, then, when addressing God?
In modern Bibles, the translators have simply adopted Jewish practice and used the word 'Lord' (in capital letters) whenever God's name Yahweh is used. Not because it is 'removed' from the Bible, but out of the greatest respect for His personal name.
And, if this causes a problem in getting to know God, then I suggest that you get to know Jesus Christ, for he said "he who has seen me has seen the Father....the Father and I are One"
