No there isn't. Generally it is determined by society what is in usage and if it is proper or not. In the Middle Age there were words that were used by everyone, but today they are considered swear words. Language changes all the time. Thirty years ago there were no computer terms used and terms today that are considered not politically correct were used often. Society changes and becomes more aware that certain words or terms are not proper. An example is the "N" word that had been in use over a 100 years and with the civil rights movement it became improper to use it. It is hoped that society as it develops can grow and become more aware how language and words harm or stereotype people.
