The first thing I would look at is the fuel filter. The fuel filter is located toward the rear of the vehicle, underneath by the gas tank. A new filter is about $15 and can be a little messy to change and a bit of a pain if you have never done one before. You can tell if it is bad by blowing through it when you have it off. A new filter has no restriction, if you can hardly blow through the old one then it needs to be changed.
Poor preventative maintenance is a leading cause of vehicle breakdowns.
Throttle position sensor
a bad sensor. the alero is notorius for many bad sensors. not an expensive replacement though
The RPMs and the engine of the 2001 Oldsmobile Alero might surge if there is a problem with the oxygen or fuel sensor. It may also surge if there is a problem with the fuel injectors or the fuel filter.
a cracked head
The Alero is made by Oldsmobile not Chrysler. My first suspicion would be a failed fuel pump or clogged fuel filter.
If the car has high miles, try checking the catalytic converter. If it is clogged it will cause the vehicle to lose power.
There are a couple of reasons why a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero ac heater to stop working. The heater coil may need to be replaced or the HVAC blower motor may need to be replaced.
You will need be able to fix it as you need a machine that can cause a vacuum inside the system. You have to take it to a shop and it will be expensive.
it could be numerous posibilities. i would have my timing checked, and also m vaccum hoses, there may be a leak.
The oil pressure is dropping at this time. A clogged oil filter, clogged oil pump screen or failing oil pump can be the cause.
saftey reasons it probably has a saftey switch in the fuel pump for when u start going to fast it shuts gas off to the engine
