Answerthis happened to my car and my mechanic friend helped to get it started by pouring a bit of gas into something, I'm not quite sure what it was, but it backfired when trying to start it, and it ignited the gas, so i wouldn't try that if i was you.. haha but in the end he just gave it hell and it started up and he told me to run fuel injector cleaner through it a couple of times, which you just mix in with the gas. that probably doesn't help much, but soon after that my battery completely died, so your battery may be going baddead battery
check if your battery is low than usual ..might be alternator problem
if clicking but not starting dead battery if it starts it's one of the many relays that open and close during startup
the engine is running checky after starting
There could be more than one cause, but the symptom suggests that the battery voltage is too low to hold the solenoid closed. If the battery voltage is high enough, then the cause may be inadequate grounding anywhere in the starting electrical circuit.
If there is a clicking noise get it to a mechanic you engine is blown and may be saved. Most likely you'll need a new one because a lifter is broken and it would be cheaper.
Weak battery, corroded or loose battery cables, failed starter.
The most common cause for a car not to start, is a battery that needs to be charge. A lack of fuel will also keep your car from starting.
the starter may not be good or the connection on the starter may be loose
I KNOW IT CAN BE THE BRAIN BOX, HEATER CORE, PLUGGED UP HEATER CORE, A COMPRESSION HOSE, AND ALSO A DOOR THAT DOES NOT OPEN TO LET THE HEAT IN, A THERMOSTATE I HAVE MINE FIGURED DOWN TO PLUGGED UP HEATER CORE, OR A DOOR AND TRYING TO FIND OUT WHERE THE DOOR IS CAUSE I HEAR A CLICKING, AND WANT TO HAVE SOMEONE TRY TO OPEN IT.
The clicking may be the belt tensioner clicking. I know that mine is causeing a clicking noise. If you get a friend to help you, you will be able to see it happen if that is the case.
In order to stop a car door from clicking, you must determine the cause of the clicking. Visit a repair shop so they can do diagnostic testing.
