If it sounds like its coming from inside the car its probably the fuel pump if not its kind of hard to say.
Have it checked for codes. The code should give an indication to the cause.

There are several things that can cause your 2002 Ford Taurus to hesitate when accelerating. A dirty air filter will cause the problem.
Loss of power when accelerating can be caused by a number of things. A leak in the fuel line or even a bad alternator can cause this.
You should be able to look up the trouble code in the Haynes manual for that vehicle. It should also tell you how to obtain and read the trouble code.
If the chirping noise speeds up as the truck speeds up, check the u-joints in the drive line.
Clean the spark plugs and wires(both sides of the wires and the attaching posts. It worked for me.
Fuel is not good!
