How do you Drive a 4 Speed Transmission with 2 Speed Rear Axle Flatbed Truck?

Start in 2nd gear in your transmission and low range in the rear axle(switch down), then shift to 3rd, then 4th(using the clutch). When on level ground and need to get truck up to road speed, shift axle into high range(switch up). To go to high axle range, keep accelerator down, pull switch up, then gradually release accelerator and pause until shift is completed, then accelerate as needed. To go to low axle range, when climbing a steep hill and losing speed, keep accelerator down, push switch down, release and quickly depress accelerator. When shifting axle, you don't have to use the clutch.

How do you shift a 18 speed transmission?

The shift pattern is a modified nine speed transmission, with the option to split the gears via the button on the side. To upshift with the splitter, you get up to the desired RPMs, push the splitter button forward, let off the accelerator for a second or two, then get back on the accelerator. If you did it right, you'll proceed as normal. If you get back on the accelerator too soon, the motor will tack up very high and very quickly once you get back on the accelerator, as you'll not have caught the gear yet. You do pretty much the same thing when downshifting. As for the progressive shift motions, if you're familiar with unsynchronised transmissions, the pattern is basically that of a nine speed. If you don't know how to shift one, you need to learn - either have someone teach you, or attend a truck driving school.

When passing a large truck do not pull back in front of the truck until?

Passing When passing a truck, first check to your front and rear, and move into the passing lane only if it is clear and you are in a legal passing zone. Let the truck driver know you are passing by blinking your headlights, especially at night. The driver will make it easier for you by staying to the far side of the lane. On a level highway, it takes only three to five seconds longer to pass a truck than a car. On an upgrade, a truck often loses speed, so it is easier to pass than a car. On a downgrade, the trucks momentum will cause it to go faster, so you may need to increase your speed. Complete your pass as quickly as possible, and dont stay alongside the other vehicle. If the driver blinks his lights after you pass, its a signal that it is clear to pull back in. Be sure to move back only when you can see the front of the truck in your rear-view mirror. After you pass a truck, maintain your speed. When a truck passes you, you can help the truck driver by keeping to the far side of your lane. Youll make it easier for the truck driver if you reduce your speed slightly. In any event, do not speed up while the truck is passing. After passing, the truck driver will signal to let you know that the truck will be returning to your lane. When you meet a truck coming from the opposite direction, keep as far as possible to the side to avoid a sideswipe crash and to reduce the wind turbulence between the two vehicles. Remember that turbulence pushes the vehicles apart; it does not draw them together.
