Could use more info but, a plugged fuel filter could do that.
change the camshaft position sensor, workind on mine.
It needs a tune-up.
I would suspect the fuel pump is bad.
if you press the pedal to much that is what can cause the engine to flood
i would replace the camshaft positioning sensor.obviously your mechanic has no clue
