Smoke and burning engine oil in the combustion chamber can be caused by a few things. The cause could be worn and leaking valve seals, worn piston rings, and less commonly, the head gasket.
Black smoke, from any diesel, is the result of partially burned fuel. Overfueling will cause black smoke.

My understanding of exhaust smoke is that Blue is oil, Black is unburnt fuel, White is unburnt diesel on cold start. The main question would be, how much smoke and when does it do it?
