What would cause a popping sound from a 2000 cavalier under the front left wheel or left front when turning to the right or backing up toward theleft?

AnswerDon't know for sure, but it sounds like bad sway bar bushings. Answerthat means your cv axle u joints are going out. when you turn left and it makes the popping noise or like a galoping horse, that means the right side is bad. and visaversa for turning right. it should cost around 150-250 to fix.

- On my 2002 Cavalier it made that noise and it was my strut mount had gone bad. Was about $50 to have it replaced since it is kind of dangerous to do.
