I had this happen to me on my Ford focus and it could have been two things either a bad water pump or a clogged raidiator if your hose blows off you are having pressure build up some where you just need to find out where its coming from you can also look at your oil color see if its like a milky color this and or your car having smoke come out of your tail pipe could indicate a blown head gasket.
They get old and become weak.
The antifreeze is building up to much pressure you may have a cloged line or tour hose clamp is lose
Either the radiator hose is loose where it connects to the radiator or there is either a small hole in the radiator or in the radiator hose. Try checking the hose to see if it's loose or check for small holes in the hose or radiator.
I would suspect a busted hose or radiator. Should be very easy to find the source of the leak.
A leaking radiator hose would NOT cause this to happen, you have 2 problems with this vehicle.
A hole.
Check valve in radiator cap malfunction, replace radiator cap.
clogged radiator or bad water pump
Thermostat stuck closed.
It is supposed to blow out the outlet hose. I would assume you have a leak in that hose.
Probably an old hose that should have been replaced. Replace the hose, clamps and the radiator cap. Inspect the other hoses. The radiator cap should release pressure in excess of psi noted on cap, usually 15 to 17 psi.
Having a leak in a radiator hose will have no effect on the engine running or not. However, in time the hose leak will cause the level of the coolant in the radiator to drop below a critical level and the engine will overheat.
