What would cause the air conditioning to cycle on-off every 10 seconds in a 2000 Ford Ranger 5 spd V6 3.0L engine?
The compressor cycling on-off is usually an indication of low refrigerant level, which in turn means that there is a leak in the system somewhere.
A check engine light means that a malfunction has been detected with the emission control system - if the check engine light does not go out ( sometimes the problem corrects itself and the light goes out ) have the Ranger scanned for trouble codes in order to diagnose and then repair the malfunction
The amount of load it is hauling, whether inside or like pulling a trailer. Also using the air conditioning while going up very long grades on the roadway will cause overheating as the engine has to work harder going uphill and adding the drag of the air conditioning pump only makes that more difficult.
Can using different fuel or a faulty gas cap make the check engine light come on in a 1997 Ford Ranger?
Squeeze a tube or two of "valve grinding compound" into a bottle of engine oil, and put it in the engine. This will cause the engine to grind away on the inside. The best way to picture what will happen is to imagine about 60,000 miles of engine wear to be done in less than 10 seconds. The engine will usually be destroyed completely within 100 miles or so of use.
What would cause a Pontiac sun fire to cut out and lose power when air conditioning is turned on Runs fine without ac on?
Misfire can be caused by any condition that doesn't allow for full combustion in an engine. You don't specify what engine you have in your Ranger, but look for things common to both cylinders. Are they on the same ignition coil? Are they next to each other on the engine? Causes can be almost anything, from a bad spark plug to a mechanical fault in the engine itself. I cover this information in my upcoming…
