The battery is probably bad. As they get old they lose the power to recharge all the way. If you had a full charge you could still drive quite a while (with no head lights on) even with the alternator/generator dead, unless the gen/alt is shorting out which is rare.
Unless you have a short-circuit somewhere the battery is u/s
most definitely
No, a starter cannot cause a battery to fail to charge. It could cause the battery to discharge quickly.
I had the same problem with my 2000 Bug and it turned out to be battery issue. Because my car has been sitting in the parking lot for the winter battery was so weak that blower didn't work. And as soon as I replaced the battery it was working. That might help.
The best way is to identify the cause of the faults, and fix them. If you need to reset the ECM, disconnect the positive from the battery, let it sit for at least five minutes, then reconnect the battery.
The cause of an exhaust indicator light in a Volkswagen Beetle is probably an oxygen sensor. There also a possibility that an exhaust pipe is plugged or there is a hole due to rust.
The battery on the car you're jumping is too weak. Let the donor car charge the battery for about 10 minutes before you attempt to start it. If that does not work the battery has a dead cell and needs to be replaced.d
Weak battery and no gas can both cause a no start.Weak battery and no gas can both cause a no start.
Yes, a corroded battery can cause an intermittent voltage drop.
Disconnect the cable from the alternator and see if that stops the draw. If it does, the alternator may be defective. Otherwise there may be something else drawing current.
It depends on the type of a bug if it is a beetle maybe!
Any battery can cause a fire under the right circumstances.
