What would cause the fuel gauge on a 1999 Dodge diesel to register a full tank when it is not full Have replaced the sending unit and it worked a while but is now failing again?

it sounds like you need to replace your fuel filter.. sometimes the lines connecting to it are corroded and also have to be replaced.. I replaced the lines on a 89 cheyenne and the lines to the filter all the way to the sending unit, including the sending unit all needed to be replaced because of rust.. hope you have more luck than i did Good luck it doesn't matter if air gets in the line, the sensor will register air and block intake from the filter.. the computer will balance it out.
