on the rear hatch of your trail blazer ,there are two (one on each side) shocks that hold the door up. thay after time have to be replaced. you can find them at any auto part store or Chevy dealer.

Use a set of pliers and pull the wiper arm off the stud down where it meets the hatch.
You have to open the rear hatch like you would to replace the reg. brake lights. Screws should be accessible once hatch is fully open.
Open the rear hatch and you will see the retaining screws inside the door frame.You can then drop the light out to get access to the bulbs. If no bulbs are bad then you may have a bad circuit board.
The Blazer was discontinued from production after the 2005 model year, and was replaced by the TrailBlazer. That being said, you have a short to ground somewhere in the circuit.
Open the rear hatch to access the mounting scews for the tailight assembly. Remove the scews and drop out the tailight assembly. The rest is self explanitory unless you have a fried circuit board for the taillights.
