you have a short inside the sarter.replace starter
There is a recall for the starter switch. The contacts become worn, and the car can stall randomly.
A starter will not disengage if the ignition switch is stuck or if the solenoid has jammed. This will cause the starter to constantly receive power.
Probably a stuck solenoid.
There is an electrical problem between the starter switch and the starter solenoid. The most likely cause is a loose connection at the solenoid or the fusable link has melted.
A starter solenoid can be bypassed by connecting a jumper wire between the battery and ignition posts on the starter. This will cause it to spin immediately without using the ignition switch.
You may have a bad "starter solenoid" or if you have a manual transmission it would be called an "interlock relay" (with a stick shift it is also wired through a switch on your clutch pedal so that you can't start it without the clutch disengaged) If it is not starting, tap on the starter motor with a hammer and try again. if it starts right away, this is the big sign that you have a bad starter motor.
I had the same problem. I took it to a mechanic and they told me it was the ignition switch.
The positive battery cable connects directly to the starter. Depending on what type of vehicle it is, the solenoid is either on the starter or on the inner fender. Power for the solenoid comes from the ignition switch. You can run a wire to the solenoid to cause the starter to engage.
could be the starter
plenty of things could be a starter, alternator, ignition switch, bad spark...
A no start condition can be caused by a bad battery, bad connections on the battery, bad connections on the starter or ground and possibly by a bad neutral safety switch or ignition switch. Use a test light and see if your getting fire to the small wire on the starter when someone trys to start it. If you are, the starter is not working. If you aren't, check the ignition switch and the safety switch.
