There's something left in the car that use power even when the engine is off. Can be a dashboard clock, can be the vehicle alarm system, can be the stereo.
The battery can also have a dead cell which will drain it overnight.
Use of the side and rear hatch doors have a dramatic drain on the battery. We have found that whenever we go on trips, or camping, where the doors are frequently opened and closed, the car the battery will drain. So far, our only solution is to disconnect the battery when the car will not be driven or charged between frequent door use.
Some possibilities: Cable is loose Alternator is faulty Some other electrical problem is causing an excessive drain. ---------------------- Also check the Fuse or Fusible Link. ----------------------- if new alternator: ck. mounting bolts for tightness & wiring. battery self maintenance? Yes, if the relay was stuck it would drain the battery.
lights being on all night....radio...electronic matters such as so...
Check alternator
Because if you reversed the polarity at the battery it would blow the fuse through which current flows to the drain.
Its not charging.
There are several models on the market, both currently and in the past, which use electric power steering pumps. The Toyota Prius, Chevy HHR and Subaru XT6 spring immediately to mind. If the pump or its controller in one of these vehicles were to go bad, it could very well drain a battery very quickly. If, however, you car has a traditional engine driven pump, then it would not drain the battery.
A car battery in any car would drain due to a short in the electrical system.
All batteries will drain a small amount, even if they are not being used. However, a substantial battery drain would be due to a problem with the battery or laptop. Make sure that the laptop is indeed off, though. With Vista, clicking the power button in the start menu will not shut down the laptop, but will instead put it into sleep mode. This continues to drain the battery. Some of the lights on the computer will still be lit when the laptop is in sleep mode, while no lights will be on if the laptop is turned off.
A raidator in need of a flush will not cause a battery drain.
For a battery to "Drain" you MUST have a short somewhere or the "Glovebox" or "Trunk" light is staying on etc. etc. Battery's don't just "Drain" on there own ;-) TommyTrouble
