The rat would die because the venom would enter the blood stream.
Rats can bite us, but they do not poison us. They are not venomous creatures.
If this snake was seen in the Southeast USA it is most commonly known here as a Black Racer. This snake is non venomous and preys mostly on Frogs, Lizards, Mice and Rats. It's very slender and very swift. It can and will bite if you come too close however the bite is no venomous there are other risks such as bacterial type infections.
My best suggestion would be to buy a snake that eats rats.
There is no general answer. Every encounter is unique. In some cases the dog wins. In others, the dog will die due to a venomous bite; or he becomes the snake's next meal. Dogs and cats regularly kill snakes, but some face larger or more dangerous reptiles than they can handle.
i would say yes because there are good eaters so you could probably keep them as a pet to eat stuff so nothing can bother you .but i read that this boy went into the woods and saw a king snake and he said that he was going to put in his shirt and take it to his barn and he would bring it in to play with it and he said he would get a whippen for it so he took it out to his barn to kill stuff like rattle snakes and rats and it said with a king sake no pounises snake would come and king snakes are not venomous
Rats... that's why it's called a rat snake.

Mice or rats.

There are far too many different cats and snakes for there to be a single answer to that. Corn snake vs regular house cat - the cat would win. House cat vs grown Boa - the snake would win.
