Why is crude oil such a valuable resource?
In modern times the exploitation of Crude oil and it's byproducts have both supported and promoted lifestyle and technological development and has been instrumental in modifying the environment almost to the point of self-destruction. Crude oil holds 90% of the economy of the world, electricity, cars, airplanes, even a simple tooth brush is made using some machine and electricity. If there is no oil we would go back to stone age. That is why the scientists are looking for other resources for future generations as crude oil may not be available in future.

Crude oil is a type of pure oil that is brought up to our surface by oil wells. Most of the places that we obtain oil is from the Middle East(Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia). You can probably buy containers of crude oil on craigslist or on eBay but I don't understand what you would use it for......
