That would most certainly be the dachshund. There are different types though. The long haired miniature, long haired, smooth haired miniature, smooth haired,
Nothing would happen, they are different species and therefore cannot breed.
My dog is a chocolate dachshund, I bet he would be really; shy and errr...lovable as a human.
I'm thinking a fluffy long dog with medium sized legs and a shih tzu head
They are 2 different species. I doubt they would breed. Would parakeets and cockatiels breed, NO
Well a healthy beagle is about 30lbs at adulthood and a dachshund as an adult usually weighs anywhere from 6-10lbs. So I would guess about 12-20 lbs.
Unless both parents are Miniature Wirehaired Dachshunds, and even if the mother/father is a Dachshund but from a different variety, the resulting offspring would still be seen as a mixed breed. Unless both parents are the SAME variety (both Longhaired etc.) breeders will see the puppies as impure. The offspring of a Miniature Wirehaired Dachshund and a normal Dachshund would likely have a coat that is slightly wavy in places but not wiry.
If you are looking to get a registered purebred Dachshund puppy you are looking at about $500. Now if it would happen to be one of the more sought after colors it will cost you more. But there are Dachshund rescue sites that offer them from $100 - $350 each depending on the age of the dog. Keep in mind that the rescue pets are not registered.
One could purchase gifts for a Dachshund at any local pet store such as "Petco" or "PetSmart". Other purchases would be dependent on what the Dachshund likes.
There would soon be no more grasshoppers.
My pet dachshund is a hyper dog who never seems to sleep.
The American Kennel Club or AKC list the dachshund within the Hound Group. The familiar dachshund descends from the cross breeding of hounds and terriers to hunt a variety of game animals. However, in America, the dachshund hunting abilities are seldom fostered. They are often acquired to be family pets or companion dogs. As such, their terrier heritage becomes pronounced while their hound instincts are suppressed. That is, as family or companion dog, they behave more like terriers then hounds. This has lead to some dachshund enthusiast wanting the AKC to reclassify the dachshund as a breed of terrier. Therefore, it would be listed within the Terrier Group. That would be erroneous. The dachshund is a true hound that are competent hunters, if given the opportunity.
