Nothing would happen, the flashlight simply wouldn't work. Switch the batteries back around and it will work.

This is purely because the contacts don't line up properly. A normal incandescent lamp will work either way round. A modern LED flashlight however is polarity sensitive.

How does a lemon battery relate to the real world?

This might not be a really good answer but you could use one to power a flashlight in a storm when you cant find batteries I guess. Haha. Something along those lines would be the real world application. Is this for science fair?

Can I replace three 8 volt batteries with two 12 volt deep cycle marine batteries in golf cart.?

it should work as long as the batteries are connected in series + to - what you would need to check is if the charger for the cart charges 24v or 8v if it is 8v you would need to get a 24v charger for it it would be possible to charge the batteries with a 12v charger but it would need to be hooked to each battery separately

How can the 250watt PC power supply unit be replaced with a 12v 4ah batteries and how many batteries you need and how would it be connected to make the PC work on batteries for 2h?

First find the current which is 250/12 = 21A rounded off. So you would need 6 of the batteries in parallel to get a bit more than 1 hr and probably 11 batteries in parallel would provide around 2 hours of operation. This is not precise since the power supply wouldn't always consuming 250 watts of power.

Example is my inverter from batteries and my genertor both supplying 110v in to by breaker panel if I forget to turn one off then the panel is fed twice with 110v what would happen?

If they are in phase and have same amplitude you should be okay. I expect this is not the case given your description so you would likely get a distorted waveform.

Why is a flashlight called a flashlight if it does not flash?

The origin is the fact that early batteries were so weak and the current draw of the lamp was very high. So could only turn the flashlight on for an instant before the batteries would wear out....hence flash of light. Who says flashlights can't flash?! Mine flashes. It's true. There's a "flash" button. you guys are gay nerds

Great Reasons to Buy a Rechargeable Flashlight?

Every year, people spend hundreds of dollars on batteries without even realizing it. Batteries are so expensive, yet we use them for so many things. It would be so much easier to depend on products that never made use of batteries. Another option is to buy objects that use batteries which can be recharged. This can be a smart way to save thousands of dollars in the long run, and hundreds of dollars within a year's time frame. A rechargeable flashlight is one object that is a smart buy. This object will last for years and can always be accessed in a time of emergency. There is nothing more annoying than trying to find a flashlight when the power goes out, only to find the batteries in the flashlight are dead. In a rechargeable flashlight, that will usually never be the case. The batteries simply recharge while they are in the flashlight. It is such a great concept and the flashlight is surely worth paying a few extra dollars to have. A rechargeable flashlight is perfect for emergencies of all types. One of the most common emergencies that happens is when the power goes out in a home. In this situation, a person needs instant access to a light source, so he or she can even see where he or she is walking. It is important to have a flashlight like this on hand too, in case children are in the home. If children are in the home, then this makes it very dangerous for them to be walking around. Another case when a person needs a flashlight like this is if he or she gets in a car accident at night. If the person can get out of the car, then he or she can use a flashlight to see how much damage is done. This sort of flashlight is also good for helping others in an emergency situation. If an accident happens at night on the road, a person can pull out this flashlight and help locate the car and see if the person is alive and able to survive. Overall, this sort of flashlight is quite the worthy investment.

What would happen if you added another battery to a simple circuit of two wires a battery and a bulb?

SERIES: A. If the additional battery is added to the circuit in a "Series Aiding" configuration, the bulb would get brighter. However, it would probably burn out very shortly, if not immediately, depending on the power rating of the bulb. Flashlight batteries such as two and three cell flashlights are usually series aiding. B. If the additional battery is added to the circuit in a "Series Opposing" configuration, the intensity of the bulb would decrease or go out completely if the opposing voltages are equal. (you can do a little experiment with a three or four cell flashlight by reversing the polarity of one or more of the batteries. The reversed battery will be series opposing and cancel 1.5 volts of the other batteries.) PARALLEL: If batteries are added to the circuit in parallel, the intensity of the bulb would remain the same but the batteries would last longer. Be sure the battery voltages are the same when adding batteries in parallel.
