What would make 99 Chrysler sebring jxi engine die while driving?

As I am finding out due to my 99 dieing in Micky D's Drive through, 1st check the fuses in the fuse box under the hood. 2nd check fuel pump. Easiest way to do that is disconnect the Quick connection under the hood that leads into the fuel rail. Try to start car and see if gas flies out all over the place. :-0 if U have gas then on to 3rd. Check spark to the plugs. Pull on plug wire nearest you. Don't matter which one. Stick a Phillips screw driver into the plug socket. Have another person try to start the car. Be sure U have reconnected the fuel line and that all the gas has dried. Holding onto the plastic handle of the screw driver get the steel part near a ground source on the car. If U see spark then it should start. If no spark, on to number 4. Here is where I am. Need to check the ohms in the distributor. Buy a Haynes book and it will tell U how to do that. If that is good, 5th check is Crankshaft sensor. Not sure how to test it but the book will also show U how to remove it. Cam sensor and the Coil are built into the Distributor. If the crankshaft sensor is good then we would have to buy a new distributor even if it tested good. Hope this helps.

It depends on the indicator. Check engine means the engine computer has detected a malfunction. The oil can is an oil pressure problem, a battery is a charging problem, etc

I just had this happen to me, it was the crankshaft sensor. If you have the 2.5L the motor will need to be cool to work on it, the sensor is under the exhaust pipe on back side of transmission. Good luck

My 2002 Chrysler Sebring has 154K miles on it and the front end rattles when it goes over bumps. When I jack the car up and push in and out and side to side on the wheels their is no movement. Nothing seems to be lose when I pull on the front end. I had the same problem on my 2002 Sebring Lxi Sedan. Problem was worn swaybar linkage and bushings. I had the linkage and bushing replaced and the rattling disappeared.
