The fuel pump (or fuel pump relay, if it has one) may be going out. Brian If it is shutting down immediately (without any sputtering or missing) but just completely dying outright and sudden, it is probably a bad battery cable or very nasty connections at terminals. Mine had been dying like that (even at highway speeds) and the problem was the positive battery cable was almost severed. A new cable fixed my problem. to check if it is the fuel pump relay open hood take cover off fuse panel ( black ,right hand side near brake fluid container) pull out relay if it is really hot then that may be the problem it should only cost you about 20 bucks to replace it and it is a dealer part so...
AnswerThere is a possibility that this could also be your alternator going bad. With my Tahoe, I haven't had this happen because I would watch my meter on the dash, and take it to get tested if it seemed low... (ok and once or twice it wouldn't start...) but I had an '87 Silverado that stalled out on me at a light once, and the alternator had gone bad. If you take it to an Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts, or probably most any auto parts store, they can come out and test your charging system for FREE, and advise you if you need a new alternator, and or battery. This test only takes a couple of minutes, and is well worth it. Also keep in mind some of the auto parts stores garantee them "for life"I got one of these alternators years ago, and haven't paid for one since- a real money saver since I do the work myself in about 15 min.
Most likely it is a belt on your car. Usually the squeeling is from a loose belt while idling and will also make noises while driving.
Simple answer is the alternator
Check the electric fan to see if it is working.
mine died because of a faulty fuel pump
More than likely a weak ground connection.
Start with changing the fuel filter.
Does it have a miss? check plugs and wires. Also a possibility of a bad throttle position sensor.
This happened to me last summer while driving my 2002 Tahoe Z71 on the highway. In my case it was an electrical issue with a blown 10 amp fuse. Check the fuse box located in the engine compartment. After replacing the fuse, I was good to go!
I noticed while driving my Impala the temps stays at the normal operating temp but while sitting still the car runs near hot. I don't believe my fans are turning on when they should and if this is the case how do I address it?
Stalling while driving may be caused by a collapsing or kinked neoprene fuel line.
thermostat probably damaged or stuck....and worse case scenario....your heater core is going out.
Possible bad fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator. Give more symptoms
