How do you know for sure that the A/C system has a proper charge of 134 refrigerant? If it does than see if you radiator cooling fan is working and that your engine is not overheating because this shuts off the A/C compressor or causes it to "cycle" on and off, thus pushing only hot or semi cool air out you A/C vents inside the passenger compartment. The A/C works in concert with your engine's cooling system and it (A/C system) also has a "High" and a "Low" pressure that will also cause your A/C cut out! Check to see if the cooling fan (radiator) is working and the temperature indicator in the dash board is not indicating "hot". If the radiator cooling shuts off while your A/C is on (which it should not) than you have engine cooling system problems. The system was designed to keep your A/C from adding heat to your engine's coolant when the engine's cooling system is not working as it should! That typically means that the refrigerant level is low.
...because its a 95 Escort.
Could be anything from needing a simple recharge to a bad compressor. Take it to a service shop (any side shop should be able to help you)
If the belt's good, check the compressor clutch.
Yeh mate sounds as if your clutch plate on the compressor is cactus or burnt out its pretty common problem ull have to replace it
A 1994 Ford Escort will experience rough running with the AC on if the compressor is going out or the idle is set too low. The additional load produced by the compressor puts a strain on the engine.
Was the voltage to the compressor clutch checked? Not knowing how thorough the under-hood check was, it sounds as if the compressor is not engaging. The causes for that are varied, but it is an electronically controlled event.
why wont the ac compressor shut off stays on on all settings
Burnt Fuse?
It controls the elctrical clutch on the compressor.0
The idler pulley is between the alternator and the A/C compressor.
The A/C compressor is located on the bottom of passenger side of the engine. It is the unit between the crankshaft pulley and the idler pulley. It is driven by the serpentine accessory belt.
