What would make the speedometer stop working and the od light begin flashing It seems to be shifting just fine. This is on my 95 Lincoln mark viii?

Did the speedo stop working at 65,xxx miles or somewhere around that mileage? There is a software prob lem that the Ford/Lincoln/Merc dealers have info on....This provblem hits only certain 95 model VIII's and always at the same exact mileage.....If the mileage is not somewhere around 65,xxx then there is another problem.
