Google's privacy policy is unacceptable to some because of its mass conglomerate of data collection sources. Google can learn very much about a person over time. Your computer will not blow up, nor will it overload with too much information, Google will return the most relevant search results first, these would include links to various Google applications such as Google maps and Google images, you would also see links to Google news items, how to advertise on Google, maybe the Wikipedia entry etc. many more search results would follow, but all clearly displayed one page at a time. So be assured it is safe to Google the word Google.
One can delete a search that they have done on the Internet by deleting their browser's history. It can be done on all browsers, by going to Internet options and pressing delete browsing history.

If it's green, site is supposedly safe. However, I have found this to not be accurate at times. You need to use your better judgment when browsing the web.
