An endocrinologist is a hormone doctor. Some of the symptoms that would warrant care from an endocrinologist include:
- High blood sugar, thirst, frequent urination (Diabetes)
- Staying hot, sweaty, angry, "hyper," and skinny (high thyroid)
- Overweight, depressed, extremely tired (possible low thyroid)
- Having a "goiter" (sign of thyroid trouble, usually high, but sometimes low)
- Moon-shaped face, hump on the back (Cushing's Syndrome)
- Stunted growth in children (pituitary problems)
- Surgical or early menopause if Ob/Gyn is not prescribing hormones.
Also, if someone has a deep-seated need to live as a member of the opposite sex, a psychologist will refer someone to an endocrinologist for sex hormones.
