It is also called tomato puree in the UK.
Tomato puree is in the fruits and vegetables food group.
This would be the preferred precursor for making salsa, as opposed to the smooth variety. It's chunky tomato sauce; puree` it if you need to.
The cost of the higher specific gravity puree is higher because it is more concentrated due to a lower percentage of water. More tomatoes are used to make the same volume of puree if the specific gravity is higher. The specific gravity is a means of assessing how concentrated the puree is. More water is liberated from the tomato puree to make it more concentrated. More tomatoes are used, hence the higher cost.
A thick pulp of fruit is generally called a "puree". A puree that has had water removed to create a very thick consistency would be a "paste".
Tomato pulp. Technically the solute dissolves whereas in tomato juice there is a tendency for separation of pulp from the juice. So a better answer may be cell contents like salts and sugars from the tomato cell.

The ingredients are: tomato puree (water and tomato paste), diced tomatoes in tomato juice, jalapeno peppers, onions, vinegar, salt, garlic powder, and natural flavor. The only ingredient that may be questionable is the "natural flavor." You would have to ask the manufacturer if the "natural flavor" is vegan.
I assume you mean "ketchup which is 100% tomato", since all ketchup is 100% ketchup. The equivalent of 100% tomato ketchup would be passata (sieved tomatoes), or tinned tomatoes, or even tomato puree. (Regular ketchup also contains vinegar, sugar and spices to make it taste like ketchup).
Tomato soup works well... so does passata or tinned tomatoes. However if you want to use something with no tomatoes in whatsoever, try some form of pesto. And some pizzas skip the tomato puree stage anyway, such as when covering the base with a layer of thinly cut potatoes with butter and herbs, or as in pizza provencal (caramelised onions, anchovies and olives, usually arranged in a lattice pattern).
That would be the tomato. :]
Ketchup is a condiment made from tomatoes, vinegar, sugar and a number of spices. To make ketchup from tomato paste, you simply add the other ingredients in the right amount. This won't be easy, because ketchup-making companies keep their recipes a secret. You can find some alternative recipes on the internet.
