It is extremely unlikely that a 2000 general circulation coin would be minted in 2001. It is not so unlikely that some bullion Proof coins might be minted in the year after the date indicated on the coin.
No British coin is minted with a hole in the middle. You may have a privately minted coin, token or medallion. A little more detail would be helpful.
Look on the reverse of the coin. If there is a small "D" or "S" under the word "ONE" then it was minted in Denver or San Francisco. If there is no letter below"ONE" it was minted in Philadelphia.
Look on the reverse, between the "O" of the word "ONE" and the tip of the wing feathers. If there is a small "S" there, the coin was minted in San Francisco. If not, it was minted in Philadelphia.
Please take another look at your coin. The first nickels were minted in 1866. Buffalo nickels were minted from 1913 to 1938.

The mint is the place where the coin was made. In the US there are several. If the coin has a D next to the date, it was minted in Denver. S is for San Francisco.

Mint condition on the other hand refers to a coin with no wear on it at all, while all the other grades of coins have wear ranging from slight (about uncirculated) or a lot of wear (poor).

There was no 1977 British One Pound coin minted. The first general circulation One Pound coins was minted in 1983.
