∙ 14y agobuy a new instrument cluster or check the wires in back my car had that problem and it was a loose connection to the back of the panel
Another name for an Odometer is a Speedometer, situated right in front of the drivers eyes in the instrument panel./////the speedometer tells you the speed of the vehicle as the odometer tells you the distance the car has traveled the odometer is normally mounted in the spedeometer
The speedometer and odometer are electrically operated. There is no mechanical connection to the drivetrain. If there is no power, they don't work.
Replace the instrument cluster.
If both the speedometer and odometer are not working I would suspect the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) is at fault. If the speedometer doesn't work and the odometer does, I would suspect the instrument cluster is at fault.
There is no odometer/speedometer cable in that vehicle. The odometer/speedometer is electronic.
My speedometer works and the odometer does not because there is a plastic gear in the odometer that is broken.
There is not an odometer cable. The odometer is driven by the speedometer. If the odometer is not working then you will have to replace the speedometer head.
I need to fix the odometer and speedometer in a 97 ford explorer
If the speedometer and odometer both quit I would blame the speed sensor. If only the speedometer quit I would blame the instrument cluster.
Stepper motor for speedometer has a broken gear in it, causing unpredictable operation. If the odometer is still working, then the speed sensor is OK. Instrument cluster needs repair.
If the speedometer and the odometer are not working, I would suspect the VSS (vehicle speed sensor). If only the speedometer is not working I would suspect the instrument cluster has problems.
