A leak from any water hose or the water pump, or even a freeze plug may be dripping down the side of the engine, making it appear it is a leak from under the engine. You need to get under the vrhicle to find exactly where the coolant is leaking from.

If it is leaking next to where the lower radiator hose attaches to the engine, the water pump has failed. That hole is the water pump weep hole.

The transmission fluid could be leaking into the engine coolant through the transmission cooler in the radiator. You should be able to see the transmission fluid in the engine coolant recovery tank. It will look like a oily film on top of the coolant. White smoke (steam) out of the exhaust indicates engine coolant is leaking into a cylinder. This can be a result of a blown cylinder head gasket or a cracked cylinder head. Have the engine coolant system pressure tested to detect the leak.

My car is is running hot and smoking... i discovered the coolant was low i added new coolant and its pouring out the bottom of my car My car is is running hot and smoking... i discovered the coolant was low i added new coolant and its pouring out the bottom of my car

If only adding coolant to a leaking system it is safe because soon you will be forced to drain the coolant and fix a problem

Check to see if there is coolant on the engine block. It is common for the Monte Carlos, along with other GM cars equipped with the 3400 V6 engine to experience leaking intake manifold gaskets. A leaking intake manifold will cause oil to leak into the coolant system and even worse, for coolant to leak into the oil system.

your car may be leaking coolant into the engine, i.e your head gasket may be bad

Could have a hole in one of the pipes worst case scenario could be a blown head gasket.

The remains of the old coolant can cause the new coolant to fail. Using the wrong type of coolant can also damage the engine.

You are leaking (internally or external) the coolant. With out knowing the code that has set, it is impossible to say the cause of the light.

there might be a leak some where in a coolant line. or maybe you have a leak in your radiator.

headgasket leak and exhaust gas is getting into the coolant

Sounds like you have a coolant leak. When cold, put a pressure tester (hand pump with fitting to the radiator neck) and see if you can see any coolant leaking. Once found, fix the leak.

you need to add coolant to the coolant resevoir. coolant is antifreeze. if you dont have enough in your car you can overheat and damage your engine.

Coolant leaking from back? meaning exaust? If yes, then it's a head gasket or cracked head. Will not start because 2 or more sparkplugs are now wet with coolant.

It's probably a warped head & head gasket, or possibly a cracked head or block. But you probably have the sequence wrong. In most cases the engine overheated THEN cracked and you got coolant into the engine. That indeed is a possibility but burbs are notorious for having a leaking intake manifold gasket that would be the place to start you'll get there before you get the heads off anyway.

one reason this may happen is as simple as the cap on your cars coolant reservoir is stripped or improperly screwed on. when this happens it doesn't allow pressure to build or hold.

You have to find the leak in order to know what to fix. I would suspect you have a leaking radiator, but that is a guess based on your description.

Try to find out where it's coming from. Often coolant will leak down the front of the water pump, under the pulley. Even if you don't see the coolant, look for the mineral trace of the water. By the time you notice a leaky water pump it has usually been leaking for a while and has left a noticeable trail. If you don't notice coolant leaking there, check other places, freeze plugs, the sides of the radiator, radiator and heater hoses... Again, the coolant and water minerals typically leave a nice bright trace to tell you where it's leaking. If the radiator is leaking, don't try to fix it yourself and certainly don't put stop leak or any other chemicals in it. Either replace the radiator or take it to a radiator shop and have THEM repair it properly.

My 1997 Cadillac Catera does the samething! Normally can be done by the Coolant leaking ,Coolant needing to be flushed, a PCV Valve, Coolant Temperature Sensor, Themostat Sticking, oil cooler, and the list goes on. . You should most likely have a "Experienced" Mechanic look at the vehicle to do a pressure test to make sure you dont have any leaks and to see what is actually wrong.

whats wrong with me I'm on my period and milk leaking out my breast

There is no reason to change the water pump, unless it is leaking engine coolant. If you have a overheating problem then it is something else that's wrong, Thermostat, stoped up radiator. Bad fan clutch. These are a few things you can check.
