Amelia Earhart went to fly around the world in the year of 1937. She was then never found or seen again. People think that maybe the japanesse had found and captured Amelia and Fred Noonan. I believe that that answer is true. Because she was lost around where the japanesse was told to have captured them and then she had lost signal and had not been seen or heard since. Fred noonan has not been seen or heard from since they lost signal before they went missing.
This will be somewhat oversimplified but (By piece at command!)- Okay, Atlantic Ocean as Forward Observer-l928 (one year after the Lindbergh flight) Atlantic ocean solo -using the Lockheed Vega (Red Bus)- l932, First Female to fly across the Pacific from Hawaii to Continental Us- l935 (not sure of plane involved) this neatly coincided in the papers with the death of the Prominent Opera singer, Marcella Sembrich.
She flew as a passenger in 1928, then solo in her Lockheed Vega in 1932

Amelia Earhart went to fly around the world in the year of 1937
Amelia Earhart was the first woman pilot to cross the Atlantic. The year however was 1932. 1928 was the year she was the first female pilot to cross the North American continent back and forth.
She flew to and from Hawaii in 1935 and 1937.
On May 20, 1932, Amelia Earhart took off from Harbour Grace, Newfoundland, and landed the next day in Londonderry, Northern Ireland.More specifically...In answer to the question "as written," Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic in June of 1928...as a passenger. From www.acepilots.com, "The pilots, Wilmer Stutz and Louis Gordon, were all but forgotten in the media frenzy surrounding the first woman to fly across the Atlantic." As the first answer cites above, she then went on to become the first woman to fly "solo" across the Atlantic when she accomplished that feat in 1932. Hope that helps clear things up. Another Reference Source: "Aviation; The Early Years" by Peter Almond, which is full of great photographs from the early aviation days. Pg 315 references her 1928 crossing.
