Yes, Genghis Khan's forces invaded and took control of parts of Afghanistan during their campaign in the early 13th century. The Mongol invasion, which began in 1219, resulted in significant destruction and the fall of various cities in the region, including Herat and Balkh. The conquest was marked by brutal military tactics and led to widespread devastation across the territory. Ultimately, Afghanistan became part of the vast Mongol Empire established by Genghis Khan.
Genghis Khan was a very feared and frightening man. People tended to be afraid of him because he was a fierce ruler who would kill any man who would stand in his way, then take his victim's wives as his own. It is speculated that Genghis Khan is an ancestor of 1 out of every 200 people living today.
He united all the tribes of the Mongol plains under himself and became their Khan, or leader. By uniting them under him he also became the only leader, the One Khan. One in Mongol was Genghis. Hence he became Genghis Khan.
While Genghis Khan was exceedingly violent and certainly did kill Jews, he did not take any specific action to target Jews for death. He pillaged, burned, and murdered millions of whom some were Jews. The only serious action that Genghis Khan took against the Jews (and Muslims as well) was to ban ritual slaughter practices of shechita (and dhabiha in the Islamic case).
Khan's legacies are, above all, his great empire (which his descendants didn't take very good care of, btw) and his military genious as a warrior and strategist.
It is unclear who trained Genghis Khan, who was born Temujin. However, his father was a chieftain of a violent village who was poisoned by a neighboring village. Temujin attempted to take his father's place at a very young age. It is assumed that his roots as a conqueror are first seen here.
