99.9 % of all Chevy small blocks and big blocks came factory with HYDRAULIC flat tappet lifters. Starting in late 1995 Chevy went to a HYDRAULIC roller lifter.

Actually, the small blocks started coming through with roller cams with the introduction of the raised-rail heads around 86 or 87. Pretty sure the big blocks went roller when they switched to the non-adjustable valvetrain around late 80's, early 90's.

What causes the ticking sound in the Ford Falcon?

It's a rocker arm tapping at valve stem. Hydraulic lifters (hydraulic rocker mounts) are the common reason for the ticking. If it doesn't go away when the engine heats up, consider replacing the lifter where the ticking comes from.

What can i use to fix hydraulic lifters?

I don't know what kind of lifter problem you are having. But I have had stuck lifters and lifters that would not pump up.This is the way I've fixed them before, some people laugh at this, but it worksOil is not a Hydraulic Fluid, Now Transmission fluid is.( some what )O That's right were working on HYDRAULIC lifters. Now change your oil and filter, Put 4 qts. of oil and the rest transmission fluidback in. If you can drive it, then drive it a lot. If not then just let it run for along time. I promise it will not hurt anything. It's an old trick and it works.Or aneven better thing to do if you are sceptical is to use LUCAS engine oil treatment use a full bottle(1L) every oil change an if it doesn't lift it then go back to the 1st awnser

Does a 1986 Nissan 300zx have hydraulic lifters?

Yes, 12 of them. Typically one will go bad and tick. If you're going to replace one, replace them all. Can get all 12 on ebay motors for ~$150. Replacing them all will prevent problems down the road.

Why do lifters go bad in a vehicle?

Not changing the oil often enough

What causes the ticking sound when you start your car?

A ticking sound at startup can be a couple of things. It can be a worn drive belt, especially if it does not go away fairly quickly. It also can be a valve lifter noise. Check the drive belt and replace if necessary. Change the oil and try using a different brand oil filter. Purolator, AC/Delco, Wix, Motorcraft, are all good. I would use an OEM type filter to start with. If the car has solid lifters they may need adjusting. If it has hydraulic lifters and changing oil/filter does not help, purchase a can of Seafoam Motor Treatment. Often lifter noise in hydraulic lifters is often due to dirty and gummed up oil passages, varnished lifters and buildup of gum, varnish and carbon. Seafoam is an excellent product used by many auto technicians that will help clean the lifters. It can be purchased at most auto & marine parts stores. Follow the directions on the can to the letter. It is also an excellent Fuel Injector cleaner.

What is the loud tic-toc noise after I start a car and after I turn off the car for a few seconds and goes away?

It could be the lifters. Depending on the mileage and care as far as frequent oil changes one o rmor eof your lifters may be making a tickign sound. As the oil pressure builds up..........say after a minute or two does it go away? Try this....just turn the engien on and let it on and see if the ticking goes away when it warms up. If not, then it is probably not the lifters. The lifters are hydraulic and they maintain a certain oil pressure and as they get old they gum up from infrequent oil changes and they lose some of their ability to hold the pressure so they tick.

What is the sequence for the lifters on a 5.7 1999 Tahoe?

Im not sure I understand your question, But if you are asking were the lifters go and in what order, then if they are the same lifters that came out of the engine they MUST be put back in the same place they came out of are they will eat the lobes off of the camshaft and tear the lifters up. If it's a new camshaft and lifters then it does not matter were they go. Anytime you take a engine apart everything must be marked and reinstalled in the same place are major engine wear will accure. If everything is NEW then the pistions are the only thing that should go in the same cylinder they came out of. The main bearing caps will only go in 1 place and the rod caps must go back on the rods they came off of. NEUTZ.
