The Lincoln Memorial design was introduced in 1959, to honor the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's birth. The Memorial design was used until 2008. In 2009, four special designs were issued for the Lincoln bicentennial. Starting in 2010, all cents carry a Union shield on the reverse side.
