∙ 12y ago1909 was the last year of the Indian Head cent and the first year of the new Lincoln Cent. The wheat penny series lasted from 1909-1958 and the Memorial Cent from 1959-2008, in 2009, there were 4 different coins depicting an event in Lincoln's life. From 2010 to present it is minted with a union shield on the reverse.
